EV. FIRSTWALD GRAMMAR SCHOOL KUSTERDINGEN

Ev. Firstwald- Grammar School Kusterdingen, 2015

Project

The school campus in Kusterdingen is being extended by a school building, the ground floor of which is a "covered square in the building" and can be used for a variety of purposes.

Concept

The solid masonry structure symbolises sustainable construction. The atrium, which is open at the top across all floors, is the centre around which all rooms are grouped. The ground floor houses all public areas such as the canteen, library and music room. All general classes and group rooms are located on the first floor. The specialist rooms, the teachers' area and the administration are located on the 2nd floor.

EQUIPMENT

Interior design concept

The light and straightforward design of the furnishings in white and light grey is restrained and blends harmoniously into the building concept in terms of materiality and colour. Its flexibility enables a smooth transition between the different forms of learning. Whether in the classic classroom, at the round seating groups in the open learning area, in the canteen or at one of the protected workstations in the side corridor - everyone, from groups to individual pupils, will find the right learning environment. Flexible furniture allows the canteen to be quickly and easily transformed into a theatre hall or event space.

Sustainability

Quality, made in Germany. Products that will shape future generations require responsible use of resources. Short production routes, the avoidance of solvents and tropical woods, as well as the fact that legal limits are clearly undercut, have already earned A2S numerous seals of approval and certificates.
