Student Village Adlershof Berlin, 2014

Project

Student housing with a village-style infrastructure, offering space for learning, living and working on an 11,000 m² site.

As is usual in a village, the 10 three- and four-storey buildings with a total of 386 residential units are arranged around a central square with all the important facilities. The serial character of the façades is broken up by irregular geometric "Denker bay windows" with wooden cladding and coloured sun protection.

Interior design concept

In order to offer as much space as possible in a small area, the furnishings and architecture merge into a single unit. A2S integrates desks and built-in cupboards into each of the 386 individual bay windows with millimetre precision. This complex customised work requires fast and precise planning, starting with the production of the panels. A discreet division of the rooms into white and grey areas separates the study area from the living area.

Even without bulky furniture, the flats offer plenty of storage space and the discreet furnishings leave plenty of scope for individual design. The large communal rooms with cooking area have cupboard systems with generous personal lockers to keep things tidy and keep distances short.

Sustainability

Quality, made in Germany. Products that will shape future generations require responsible use of resources. Short production routes, the avoidance of solvents and tropical woods, as well as the fact that legal limits are clearly undercut have already earned A2S numerous seals of approval and certificates.
